Maz, the Founder and Creative Director of Santo and Hiraya, operates a candle workspace in Gold Coast, Australia. Despite leaving The Philippines as a child and returning to visit a decade later, its lush islands, vibrant energy, and gastronomy inspired her brand's creation, honoring her heritage and values.​

 

Beginning as a hobby after a home renovation in 2013, Maz's passion for crafting clean, scented candles led her to learn candle-making. This hobby evolved into a small seasonal business, selling hand-poured candles at local markets and events. ​Following a recent visit to The Philippines, Maz's inspiration reached new depths, prompting her to conceive a fresh line of candles. These candles stand as constant reminders of the country's breathtaking tropical paradises, diverse culinary pleasures, and dynamic cultural legacy.

 

Each candle she designed encapsulates the very spirit of this remarkable nation, offering individuals the chance to infuse their spaces with its captivating beauty and culturally rich tapestry.​ Empowered by her compassion for a Philippines orphanage, Maz established a brand allowing her to support the orphanage and contribute positively to the children's futures. Maz's ultimate goal is curating a collection of products that genuinely reflects The Philippines, enabling others to incorporate its natural beauty and richness seamlessly into their homes.
